The months and years leading up to menopause can take some women into physical and emotional upheaval. While menopause lasts only 24 hours—it’s the day after a woman’s final period, the transition leading up to that day can last ten years. During this time women can experience erratic fluctuations in hormones that can lead to hot flashes, fatigue, weight gain, depression, anxiety and low libido.
Yoga may be the most effective way to address these issues and more: Inversions can relieve stress and insomnia; twists can alleviate fatigue and depression; forward bends can reduce irritability and anxiety. Simple pranayama practices can relieve hot flashes by up to 44%, according to a recent study.
During this two-hour workshop, you will develop a practice that is informed by your hormones and emotional context, a practice that meets all your needs and helps you make sense of your personal journey and the road ahead. Whatever stage of menopause you are at—perimenopause, menopause or postmenopause–it can be a window of self-discovery.
